POST RELEASE SUPPORT PROGRAM
The Post Release Support Program is a collaborative project between the Department of Juvenile Justice and Marist Youth Care.
The 3 months program assists young people leaving custody to reintegrate into the community through intensive Case Management and Networking. The objective is to reduce the number of young people re-offending and to eliminate the stigma of young people having prolonged involvement with the Department.
The program aims to establish relationships with welfare and community support services, empowering young people to continue accessing support after leaving our program.
Case Management is conducted on a needs base, addressing issues specific to the young person. There are two Case Manager positions. One is an identified indigenous position, the other is non specific.
All referrals for the program are received from the Department of Juvenile Justice and must have the consent of the young person as it is a voluntary program. Referrals are limited to young people residing in Auburn, Baulkham Hills, Parramatta, Holroyd, Blacktown, Mt Druitt or Penrith areas. Brokerage funding is available for young people returning to the Blue Mountains or Hawkesbury areas.
