GITS: OUTREACH PROGRAM
GITS is an outreach service targeting young people 12 to 22 years of age who are experiencing crises but whose particular needs are not met by existing residential or community based services.
The crises may be caused by homelessness, drug and alcohol abuse or lack of practical resources needed to access health, education, vocational or accommodation services. The program has brokerage funding to assist practically in providing what is needed to help the young people access these services.
In some cases the young people contact our service. In other cases, relying on an extensive network of agencies in the area, GITS works proactively to seek out such young people who may be living on the street or in emergency accommodation. In many cases GITS works cooperatively with the other agencies, developing a case plan to meet the individual needs and coordinating the interventions of all parties involved.
The service is limited to the Nepean area.
