The following is a list of SAAP funded services and a brief description by LGA. Blue Mountains: OPEN HOUSE - Open House provides medium term refuge accommodation for 15-18 year olds in Springwood. They also have an early intervention family worker, an indigenous specific caseworker and brokerage service, 2 outreach caseworkers and partnerships with Community Housing for semi independent placements. Open House are also heavily involved in community development and education support services. KATOOMBA YOUTH REFUGE (KYR) - KYR provides emergency supported accommodation for young people aged 15-18 years. In Katoomba. They provide outreach support to young people living independently and they run a program called the Youth Housing Project that supports young people in getting private leases in the upper Mountains. KYR also participates in community development and education programs. `Zo.    &What Services are there in the Nepean?''$& Hawkesbury: THE TURNING POINT - The Turning Point provides Medium to long term accommodation for young people aged 15  18 in Richmond. They also provide early intervention services and outreach casework services to young people in the Hawkesbury. They also have a semi independent flat. Penrith: NEPEAN YOUTH ACCOMMODATION SERVICES (NYAS) - NYAS provides 4 accommodation based services, all of which have access to casework support. Penrith Youth Refuge (PYR) is based in Penrith and provides emergency accommodation to young people between 14 and 18. Dulkarra is based in Emu Plains and provides semi independent accommodation to males 16-21. Willow Tree is based in Emu Plains and provides semi independent accommodation to young women who are pregnant or have a new born. NYAS also have access to independent units in St Marys for young people who are able to live independently but need some support. NYAS also have some brokerage assistance for young people moving into independent accommodation.PZ#8$       I     \     &What Services are there in the Nepean?''$& Penrith (continued): LEMONGROVE LODGE - Lemongrove Lodge provides medium term accommodation for young people 15-18 years old in Penrith. They operate a drop in centre and outreach to young people who are  sleeping rough . They provide access to food, shower and laundry facilities, computers, internet and health services. They do not provide accommodation. NEPEAN BROKERAGE SERVICE (GITS) - GITS provides casework and financial support to young people who are effected by homelessness and are unable to obtain financial support for goods or services that will aid them to not be homeless. Common examples are financial assistance to purchase furniture for semi independent housing, paying for dentist appointments or therapy services, contributing to bond payments, and short term casework support. This service is based in Penrith.vZ  !$ p #   N  l   &What Services are there in the Nepean?''$& Blacktown: MARIST YOUTH CARE SAAP SERVICES (MYCSS) - MYCSS operates 4 SAAP refuges for young people  3 are in the Blacktown LGA and one is in the Penrith LGA. They each accommodate 4-5 young people between the ages of 15 and 18. Marist aims to work with high and complex needs clients wherever possible. Referrals are made through the Siding at Mt Druitt. They also have caseworkers who provide intensive casework support and aftercare to clients. Marist also have a number of other non SAAP programs throughout Western Sydney. HAYS - HAYS is a new SAAP accommodation service based in Hebersham and specifically targeted towards young Koori people. They provide intensive casework and referrals are made direct. They also have strong links to the local community and are involved in community development work in the Mt Druitt area. BH4.h  l         &What Services are there in the Nepean?*'$$$& EDMUND RICE COMMUNITY SERVICES (ERCS) - ERCS provide 2 SAAP accommodation programs in the Mt Druitt area  one emergency and one medium term unit. They both accept clients between 15 and 18 years and for varying periods of time. They have male and female placements and provide casework support to clients during and after care. Referrals are made through the emergency refuge at Bidwill. ERC also provide a range on non SAAP programs. WANBINGA - Wanbinga provides emergency accommodation for males between the ages of 15 and 18 years. Referrals are made direct and intensive casework support is provided. They are based in Doonside. FUSION - Fusion provides casework and living skills in a range of supported medium to long term accommodation options located from St Marys to Blacktown. They have a central referral system with a 4 week assessment process that operates through their St Marys office. Young people between 16 and 24 and their dependent children can participate in the program for up to 2 years. Fusion also provides a range of training and recreational options through their non SAAP programs. &PXPPPP& ><s&What Services are there in the Nepean?*'$$$& TRANSITION TO INDEPENDENT LIVING (TILP) - TILP is auspiced by Marist and it provides semi independent accommodation to young people between 16 and 25 who have the skills to live independently. They provide casework support to the young people and assist them to find private or public housing. They have properties across the region. CATHERINE VILLA - Catherine Villa provide medium term accommodation to young women who are pregnant or who have a young child. Women must be over 20 weeks pregnant and between the ages of 15 and 18. They also provide health and life skills support through groups that are run on site. They are based in Quakers Hill and referrals are made direct. There are other services that provide SAAP related services within the Nepean and Blacktown areas. DOCS are one of the partners in delivering services for homeless people in the Nepean and they provide the funding. They have Community Program Officers (CPO s) that assist funded services to fulfill their funding requirements. The CPO for the Youth SAAP Resource Worker Position is an active participant in the YAIN meetings and therefore works with service providers to achieve SAAP objectives at a regional level. They are a valued participant and the partnership means that the funding body and service provider are working towards the same goals and each understands the role of the other. 4VV.   Working Together (YAIN) bThe Youth Accommodation Interagency Network (YAIN) is the interagency support and action meeting for the Nepean Region which covers the Penrith LGA, Blue Mountains LGA, Hawkesbury LGA and part of the Blacktown LGA. It is the primary forum within which you can share ideas and brainstorm strategies with other similar service providers. YAIN focuses on identifying regional service gaps and common struggles within the region and then finding ways to overcome these. We also help each other with practice based issues.
