MYC auspices the Hebersham Aboriginal Youth Service (HAYS).
HAYS provides supported accommodation for Aboriginal young people 15 to 18 years old who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
Our model for working with Aboriginal young people integrates kinship, participation, cultural recognition and support, and self determination.
The program involves:
Case managers focus on developing independent living skills including assistance with employment, education, cultural awareness, health and community & family relationships. Counselling is also available for families.
Our case workers help identify the young person’s totem, land or country, their language and who they are related to by blood and/or spirituality.
